At St Andrews CE Primary School and Nursery, we end each day with an act of collective worship—a cherished and distinctive part of our school life. This time of reflection is designed to be formative, nurturing and inclusive, helping our children and staff grow spiritually and emotionally. Collective worship offers a space to express gratitude, hopes, and fears and to build resilience in the face of life’s challenges. It encourages us to pause, reflect and connect—both with ourselves and with something greater.
As a Church of England school, our worship is Christian in nature, yet invitational and respectful of all faiths and beliefs. We do not seek to convert, but rather to inspire every member of our community to live with kindness, purpose and integrity. We encourage children to learn from faith as well as learn about faith, fostering understanding and respect across different worldviews. Worship is a powerful opportunity for the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of all pupils. Whether through prayer, discussion, meditation, or quiet contemplation, children are invited to explore values, reflect on their beliefs and develop a deeper sense of self and community.
Through collective worship, we aim to help children:
Our church provides a strong spiritual foundation for the school community. It helps to establish and nurture our Christian values, beliefs, and the traditions that underpin the school’s ethos and mission. The church’s teachings and practices guide our moral and ethical development fostering a sense of purpose and belonging.
St Andrew’s church provides opportunities for collective worship within our school. Our daily acts of worship, such as assemblies, services, and celebrations, enable us to come together as a community to express our faith and reflect on our spiritual journey. However and wherever we choose to worship, we always see it as an opportunity to let our light’s shine and sparkle, sharing in beautiful moments of peace and unity.
